Secondly, I was thinking about what I’d like to see in MoP. Mostly silly stuff really, but here goes:

- More character slots. All mine are full and I want a monk.

- Freshen up older character models. The vanilla models are nowhere near as good as the new ones. Have you seen their hands?!

Which leads me to:

- Knees and Elbows for the Forsaken. Seriously, it bugs the hell out of me.

And this is totally in the realms of fantasy:

- A new profession: Critter Tamer, where you can tame critters and sell them as mini pets. You could have rare critters, damn I would love it. However I’m sure it’s just me being silly and is really a crap idea.

There is more I’d like but can’t think of it right now. So what do YOU want to see? Serious or silly.

I love Ford Capri’s. They are so 80,s, and from a time when cars looked different whereas nowadays they all look the same. I am determined to own one one day. So when I saw one and squeaked in delight my instructor informed me she has had 3 in the past, she loves them too.

Anyway, I was feeling ropey when I got back so I dosed myself with Lemsip and decided to quietly play some WoW. But of course the people in game had other ideas.

First I logged onto my baby undead warrior for a while. I had bags bulging with Mithril so I did some Jewelcrafting in the hope I could just have a quiet afternoon. But no, trade chat started up when guy playing a hunter had started whining in trade about AH prices and how he couldn’t afford anything and no one would sell him stuff cheaper and it was SO UNFAIR when someone made a comment along the lines of “I guess school’s finished early”. Well this set the guy off yelling in trade he was 21 and had a job which was way better than any of our jobs. But the guy couldn’t spell for toffee, which started people asking what kind of great job he had when he couldn’t even write a coherent sentence. So he raged more and more about how spelling and grammar doesn’t matter unless you are a loser. I’m guessing he really was a kid IRL, and after calling the general population of WoW fat ugly virgins his parting shot was along the lines of I earn more money than you all and my life is so much better than yours. If he isn’t a kid, well, I feel sorry for his workmates if they have to work with an entitled asshole like that. I know I should have just put him on ignore but hell, the stuff he was coming out with beggared belief. I didn’t know whether to laugh or weep for the future of humanity.

So then I decided to do LFR with Morrigu. First half went smoothly, but the second half was a disaster. Dunno what was up with the tanks yesterday but they sucked. It took 4 tries and 3 changes of tank to get Ultraxion down. It was… Painful. Which meant the rest of the run was full of upset people yelling abuse at each other. So the moral we learned here is don’t do LFR when you feel like crap, it makes things worse.

I thought there was an upside to the raid though. I was happy to get the LFR version of the Gloves of Liquid Smoke, which I duly gemmed and enchanted. And then I promptly won the tier glove token in the guild run that night. *sigh*

I’m not going to play today. I’m going to finish work at 6 and go home to bed.

(Bonus points to anyone who gets the title of this post)

It’s true, whilst I have complained about guys treating me badly because I’m a girl, I do tend to forget the other side of things, with girls treating guys badly.  Neither is acceptable IMO.  I remember an article written by someone who had seen how far they could push things by being a girl in WoW and using that fact to get what they wanted off male gamers.  It was back in vanilla and it was quite scary.  I can’t recall what it was called or if it was an actual girl who did it, but they used ‘I’m a girl’ to get thousands of golds worth of stuff, back when that was a shed load of gold.  After the experiment they returned everything to the people they had tricked and explained about the experiment.  Damn, what was it called.  (Don’t type something like ‘Girls scamming guys in WoW’ or anything like that into Google, it brings up some horribly offensive crap).

Personally, I have experienced sexism from guys alot more than the girls using their gender to get what they want, but it did remind me of the one time I remember it happening, and it was a doozy.

It was back in Vanilla, in the days of 40 man raids,  the guild recruited a new paladin, appropriately named Princess.  Maybe that should have been a warning.  The guild had a female GM, and as well as myself 2 or 3 other female members, and there was never any issues.  Then Princess hit.  She started off by developing a ‘thing’ for one of the officers, who was happily married but had a very flirty nature, oh and his wife was in the guid too.  Princess took his flirty nature to mean he adored her, and made it known that she was his ‘favourite’, despite this officer being very polite and telling her she was just another recruit.  Princess was really only out for what she could get.  She wouldn’t run dungeons unless there was something she wanted, at which point she would beg and wheedle in gchat until people agreed to go just to shut her up (this being the days before randoms and LFG). And she would not talk to anyone she knew was female, she’d just straight up ignore any whispers or anything in guild chat.  She’d randomly whisper male guildies inane stuff and play the helpless female card ALOT, which annoyed the hell out of the other girls in the guild as we worked to get what we needed. At the time my ex was a member of the guild and I witnessed first hand the crap she’d pull when she tried /w him.  It was all coming to a head, and the officers had had enough of her, and then she did the worst thing.  She utterly messed with one of the sweetest guys in the guilds head, convincing him she was in love with him, and she would move across europe to be with him.  He was only 18, kind of naive and fell for it hook line and sinker.  Only to be called by her irate boyfriend one day and told to back off. When confronted in guild about it, she thought it was hilarious and couldn’t understand why people were upset, after all it was the guys fault for falling for it wasn’t it? And so what if she was using her gender to get stuff, girls who didn’t were obviously too stupid to realise the advantages. Needless to say she didn’t pass trial.  But the damage was done and one of my best friends in the game ended up quitting as he was so upset.

So what’s the big deal some might ask? Because one girl acts like that and all of a sudden people think ALL girls are like that.  Never mind that 99% of us do it all on our own and play just as well as guys well all MUST act like that.  After all, how else do we get our shinies.

Let’s start off with the yay shall we? Last Thursday I got the Vagaries of Time caster mace from Morchok. At the time I was using a staff from FL but I was pretty sure I had the Demonic Skull offhand quest reward in my bank for just this eventuality. After the raid though I was in a rush and logged before checking, and being a busy little Morri didn’t log on until Monday. Only to find I’d not kept the offhand after all.

So I rolled need on an item I couldn’t use right away.

However I decided to open a ticket to see if a GM could restore it for me, not really expecting much luck, but the next day I get this:

Ok, not sure who Sethi is, but what a nice reply, I expected the usual copypasta response at least. And sure enough, the skull was waiting for me in my mailbox.

I’ve seen GM’s get a lot of flack in my years playing WoW, but any time I’ve had to contact them they have been brilliant. I must post my drunken hug ticket response at some point.

So now for the WTF. Last night we didn’t get enough guild sign ups to go and try to kill Deathwing, so we borrowed a few members from a friendly guild and headed off to FL to keep our hands in. I took Morrigu, and we zipped through, and got to Ragnaros in record time. A few people hadn’t been that far before so there were a few false starts, but the third attempt was going great. Suddenly… I DC. My guildies assured me on Mumble it was ok, and they would res me once I got back in. Except when I got back in I was alive and well. And in Stormwind. I could only listen as my guild mates killed Raggy. Now it’s not like I needed anything from him, and I’d killed him plenty of times, but what a crap end to my nights raiding. So WTF Blizzard? I know, it’s just one of those things but really, WTF…

My guild has quite a few couples in it, and I’ve known quite a few couples in the past who have played the game together. I used to part of one.

I got married the first time in 2003 at the ripe old age of 23. We broke up in 2008 and the divorce came through in 2009. Now I’m not going into details about why it didn’t work out, this post isn’t about that. It was amicable at first, but has since deteriorated somewhat. I don’t miss him. I’m much happier now with G. But I do miss one thing. Having someone to play Warcraft with.

Yeah, it’s silly. G is a bit of a technophobe and likes his antiques so he doesn’t play Warcraft. He’s looked over my shoulder whilst I’ve been raiding and wondered what the hell is going on, and when I’m drunk I tell him allllllll about the game, but so far he’s never tried it. He says he will, one day, but I’m not convinced. My ex however used to play all the time. He could never decide what class he wanted to play, so he only ever got a character to max level once, but when he was very good at reading up on classes and could give very good advice. I had someone to boost through dungeons, and up to a point do the same for me. If I needed to grind for something I had someone to help out and reduce the grind time. And best of all, if I was frustrated after a bad group or encounter with an asshole then I could bitch to him and he knew exactly why I was pissed, G tends to ask why I play the game if it annoys me.

So yeah, I miss having someone close to play the game with. For example last night during our raid one of the couples were laughing about their drinks over mumble. I miss that.

So yeah, I don’t miss the ex, but I do miss the in game companionship. Sad, huh?

So my sixth folder is my Lolcat/Meme folder, and well, it’s not rude, but it’s going under a cut for the language.

I can hear him say that in a cockney accent.

But imagination has its downsides, two examples of which I will tell you about now. Forgive me, I didn’t play any WoW all weekend and I’m reaching here content wise.

First of all, if you have ever played the Silent Hill games, or seen the movie, you’ll know about how when the old air raid type siren goes off the world suddenly changes into a messed up, rusted iron, blood stained version of itself where things like skinned babies leap out at you. Yeah, it’s lovely, and I can’t get enough of these games. Ho hum…

Anyway, quite close to the village I work in there is a working stone quarry. And like most quarries they use shaped charges to blast off sections of rock. Just before they blast they use a siren just like the one in Silent Hill to warn workers. And of course if the wind is right the sound carries right over the village. So I’m stood at work looking out of a window, knowing Silent Hill isn’t real and wondering if things are about to get really messed up.

Sad isn’t it…

Secondly, I have started reading a series of books by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child known as the Pendergast series after the FBI Special Agent Pendergast who stars in them. The first books is called Relic, and some of you may remember a movie done about 2000 called The Relic about a monster in a Natural History Museum. Well that was based on the first novel, and is nowhere near as good as the book, especially as the people who made the movie cut out Agent Pendergast, who admittedly has a smaller roll in the book than the later novels. They are an odd mix of murder mystery and sci-fi with some occult stuff thrown in and I’m kind of hooked. I’m now on the third book, The Cabinet of Curiosities, and loving it.

Read it up til midnight last night, and would have read later but I didn’t want to get up too late this morning. And something happened that’s not happened for quite a while… I had bad dreams based on the book. Now this may be a case of my subconscious hating me rather than my Overactive imagination, and I was not amused but a little impressed.

So yeah, the imagination has its down side, but I wouldn’t get rid of it for the world.

Anyway, I must go, it’s breakfast time and I need to do my morning routine of lifting weights and stomach crunches.

Hopefully tonight I will have some special screenshots though as my guild, who have had a few problems of late, are taking on Deathwing in the final fight of DS. Watch this space.

And sadly only two of those last three words is accurate this Friday night. And surprise surprise, it’s the frog part.

My lurgy cleared up enough today so I was able to work my full shift. Which wasn’t too bad, not too busy and not too quiet, and I only wanted to kill 3 noisy children. I’m great at customer service me It will be much nicer when the kids go back to school next week.

Anyway, my shift finished at 6 so G picked me up and we stopped off at the local shop/ petrol station to get something nice for dinner. And as G queued to pay there was a commotion by the door.

Me being the nosy person I am I went to see what’s up and there it was. A fully grown frog had hopped in through the open door. It’s like 3 inches long and yet from people’s reaction to it you’d think it was a massive mutant trying to hump their leg. Even the few men around seemed grossed out, one offering the solution “Stamp on it!!”. So I swoop in, pick it up and place the slimy little fella in a safe spot outside. This just seemed to freak people out even more. Most couldn’t believe I touched it, and some bright spark was convinced I would now get warts. For one thing that’s supposedly toads, and for another thing it’s Not True. It’s a harmless for people, it was more scared of us that we were of it, and yes, don’t worry, I washed my hands afterwards.

Flee! It will swallow your soul!!

Sadly that is likely the high point of my Friday, so I’m going to settle down with a bottle of wine and watch anime. Again.

Yeah, I know, kinda of boring isn’t it. But there IS a story behind it.

Cast your mind back to last year when there were riots in some of the major cities in England.  If you aren’t from the UK and have no idea what I am talking about you can read about it here. Now I live in theass end of nowhere so I was in no danger from these riots, but some of my guildies lived in London in areas scarily close to the trouble spots, and it was worrying for all of us.

On facebook an event was created called Anti-Riot: Operation Cup of Tea in an effort to encourgae people not to go out and riot, but instead have a nice calming cup of tea.  The object of the page was to post pictures of yourself having a cuppa rather than going out destroying other peoples properties.  Great, but I couldn’t find my camera.  So I did the next best thing.  I took Moraith, my DK who was my main at the time, sat her in Stormwind and took a screenie of her drinking a cup of tea.

It didn’t seem so nerdy at the time.
