Shiny Dragons and Whiney Babies

Blizzard are selling a lovely new mount in their store. It’s a dragon. And it’s gold. What’s not to love?!

Well judging by the comments on the announcement page on the Warcraft website, lots.

First off you get the “This should be a rare mount, how dare you make it available to all!!” people. Because there isn’t enough rare mounts in the game obviously, so all those special snowflakes must be traumatised as all hell. After all, how dare casuals get anything they feel only hardcore players deserve.

Second of all there are the “You want us to PAY for this mount? Don’t you get enough money off us Blizzard!!!” types. Well see, Blizzard aren’t forcing you to buy one of these mounts. But some of us don’t mind paying for something nice. “You are looooooooosers if you pay money for something in game!!” Listen dearie, I work 18 hours a week cleaning other people mess and serving beer to drunk people. I earn my money, so I’ll choose how to spend it. If I want to buy a shiny in game mount then I will. Which reminds me of a ‘friend’ of mine who called me dumb for playing WoW and paying £8.99 a month. Yet when I pointed out how much he spent a month on alcohol he got all offended. To me, that’s a far bigger waste of money, but it’s his money, he can spend it how he likes, and I’ll spend mine on what I like, with an intact liver and no hangover.

So to both those types whining about this mount, I’d like to say a big GET OVER IT. Now, where is my debit card…

  1. This mount is SO pretty! When I logged in yesterday I saw three people with it and WOW! It looks absolutely fantastic. It’s even more awesome if a shadow priest in shadow form rides it… that looks totally special.
I’m absolutely there with you that you can spend your own hard earned money as you wish. And believe me – once I have some spare money I’ll so gonna buy that…

  2. There’s a third stance on this. Currently thanks to the bloody economy, neither Colt or I are in the position where we can justify money spent on a mount, when it’s more needed on food. We’re just about okay for the subs for the next couple of months – as it’s our main source of entertainment, WoW works out pretty cheap. It’s annoying in some respects to see something that’s currently completely out of our grasp – at least with the sodding TLPD there’s a glimpse of hope of getting it!

Not begrudging anyone who DOES get this mount, just saying that it would be nice to have a chance at it as a rare drop too. Also, it’s big. I’m so baby spicing any that deliberately sit on mailboxes/quest givers etc.
